invites YOU to submit a poster abstract for the 2027 Annual Meeting in Durham!

ASNR welcomes structured abstracts reporting original research, case reports/series, meta-analyses or literature reviews, and qualitative or mixed-methods research. 

Abstracts are DUE Sunday, November 29, 2026 at 11:59pm Central.

Results are required. Abstracts must report study-specific findings that directly address the study question. Submissions based only on proposed analyses, anticipated findings, descriptive information, or sample characteristics will be rejected without further consideration. Please see FAQs below.

For quantitative research, case reports/series, and meta-analyses/reviews, results should include relevant numerical outcome data, such as means, standard deviations, proportions, effect estimates, confidence intervals, and statistical test results when appropriate.

For qualitative research, results should report substantive findings such as themes, patterns, interpretations, experiences, or barriers/facilitators. For mixed-methods research, abstracts should report findings from both the quantitative and qualitative components and indicate how the two together address the study question 

Submitted abstracts must follow a structured abstract format. Please follow guidelines below when submitting your abstract.

Do abstracts really need to include results?
Yes. Abstracts must report findings that directly address the study question. Abstracts based only on proposed analyses, anticipated findings, or descriptive information will not be accepted.

What counts as numerical results for a quantitative study?
Quantitative abstracts must report numerical findings from the analyses that address the study question. These may include means and standard deviations, proportions, effect estimates, confidence intervals, test statistics, p-values, or other appropriate quantitative measures.

For example, “Fugl-Meyer scores improved from 31.2 ± 8.4 at baseline to 36.7 ± 9.1 after treatment (p < 0.001)” reports a numerical study finding. In contrast, “Participants receiving the intervention demonstrated significantly greater motor recovery than controls” is not sufficient by itself because it does not report a numerical outcome supporting that conclusion.

Do demographic or baseline characteristics count as results?
No. Numeric summaries of the study sample—such as sample size, age, sex, diagnosis, disease severity, or other demographic or baseline characteristics—do not constitute study results.

For example, “Thirty-six participants were enrolled, with a mean age of 62 years; 58% were male” describes the study sample but does not report a study finding. Quantitative abstracts must also include numerical findings from the analyses relevant to the study question.

If I submit an abstract without results, can I update it with results later?
No. Abstracts must be complete, including required results, by the submission deadline. Updated abstracts will not be accepted after the submission window closes, and there will be no second round of review.

Are preliminary or interim results acceptable?
Yes. Preliminary or interim findings may be submitted, provided that the relevant analyses have been completed and sufficient results are reported to support the conclusions. The abstract should indicate when findings are preliminary or interim.

Can I submit an abstract that falls outside the requested abstract type?
No. Abstracts must be one of the research types described in the Call for Abstracts. If you are uncertain whether your work is within scope, you may contact ASNR at info@asnr.com before submitting.

Will late submissions be accepted?
No. Abstracts must be submitted by the stated deadline. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Will abstracts that exceed the word limit be considered?
No. Abstracts must comply with the stated word limit. Submissions that do not comply with the stated word limit will not be accepted.

Will abstracts that do not follow the required submission format be considered?
No. Abstracts must follow all submission requirements, including the required structured abstract format and section headings. Submissions that do not comply with the stated instructions will not be accepted.
