The 2011 ASNR Satellite Meeting took place before the 2011 Society for Neuroscience Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.

The focus of this year's edition of the meeting was: CNS Physiology in Recovery of Function after Injury or "Back to the Mechanisms." It was the second occurrence of a satellite event organized by the American Society of Neurorehabilitation (ASNR), recognizing that SfN is one of the most important meetings for the presentation of research relevant to rehabilitation and repair in neurological conditions. The program consisted of a keynote presentation by Pablo A. Celnik , MD, of The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Along with Dr. Celnik, there were also six presentations from investigators in training. It was followed by a general discussion of the current state of neurophysiological research in rehabilitation and strategies for funding and publishing such work. There was also a poster session at the end of the meeting.

Conference Learning Objectives

  1. To understand the physiological changes after injury in the central nervous system.
  2. To receive updates in new methods of studying brain and spinal cord function and how they can be applied in neurorehabilitation.
  3. To make the connection between motor function underlying brain physiology.
