Neurorehabilitation and Neural Repair EDITOR SEARCH
Deadline for Editor Nominations: June 15, 2013
Dr. Bruce Dobkin, MD has announced his intention to step down as Editor of the Neurorehabilitation and Neural Repair by January 1, 2015. The American Society of Neurorehabilitation (ASNR), in consultation with the World Federation of NeuroRehabilitation (WFNR), has appointed an Editor Search Committee to seek out and recommend to the Board of Directors of the American Society of Neurorehabilitation, the leading candidates for this position of Editor. It is envisaged that the Editor will be appointed for a 5-year term, with the possibility of extension for a second 5-year term subject to approval of the Boards of Directors of the ASNR and WFNR.
To this end, the members of the American Society of Neurorehabilitation and the World Federation of NeuroRehabilitation are receiving this letter soliciting nominations for the key post of Editor of the Neurorehabilitation and Neural Repair.
You are encouraged to nominate suitable individuals for consideration. Candidates should have the time, interest, skills and experience in medical publishing and the stature in our field to be effective as the next Editor of the Neurorehabilitation and Neural Repair. The current Editor estimates that the position requires an average of 15 hours or more per week. Compensation is provided. Self-nominations are welcome. If you wish to nominate someone, please make sure that your candidate is interested.
NOMINATIONS WILL BE CLOSED AS OF JUNE 15, 2013
Interested candidates must submit a concise two page letter describing: 1) his/her experience with writing and editing (include a curriculum vitae); 2) assessment of the current strengths and weaknesses (in broad strokes) of Neurorehabilitation and Neural Repair; 3) a vision of the journal for the next 5-10 years; and 4) a description of the Editorial team they would assemble including areas of expertise. Candidates and nominators should be aware that the starting transition date for the next Editor could be as early as January 2014, with full transition to be completed by December 31, 2014.
The Editor Selection Committee includes Drs. Krish Sathian (ASNR President and Editor Selection Committee Chair), Bruce Dobkin (current NNR Editor), Mike Weinrich, Stephanie Clarke (current WFNR President and current NNR Associate Editor), and Nick Ward (current NNR Associate Editor).
Dr. Dobkin and his editorial team have served the journal, its sponsoring organizations and the entire neurological and neuroscience community exceptionally well over the past seven years. Together we must strive to ensure that his successor will sustain and build upon all that has been accomplished. Thank you for your careful consideration of the future of your journal.
